Christopher Metzger is a Brooklyn based designer working in theatre, dance, and opera.
Design credits include: La Traviata (Philharmonia of New York), West Side Story (Sioux City Symphony), Tosca (Opera Roanoke), Levity (premiere) and Title of Show, with Big Sky Theater Company, Outlying Islands (Sugarglass Theatre; Dublin, Ireland), Elijah (world premiere, Bristol Valley Theatre), Sehnsucht (Jack Arts Center), Julius Caesar (The Acting Company), The Healing (world premiere, TBTB), and Mothership (New York City Ballet, Choreographers Institute), and Three Sisters; directed by Mark Wing-Davey (NYU).
His collaborations with, Wheelhouse Theater Company include: Happy Birthday, Wanda June, Enemy of the People, and DANNYKRISDONNAVERONICA.
While attending NYU Christopher began collaborating with Cherylyn Lavagnino and the Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance Company. In his 6th season with the company, his work has been seen around the world including; Beijing International Contemporary Dance Festival, Indianapolis City Ballet, Kaatsbaan International Dance Center, American Dance Guild, and Danspace Project. Christopher’s designs for, Ru, were featured in the September 2014 issue of Dance Teacher Magazine.
As an Associate and assistant Christopher has worked with designers including: Jennifer Moeller (Sweat, Broadway), Susan Hilferty, Constance Hoffman, Moria Clinton, James Schuette; and with notable institutions: The Public Theatre, The Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Juilliard School, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
