Christopher Metzger is a Brooklyn based designer working in theatre, dance, and opera.
Design credits include: Levity (premiere) and Title of Show, with Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, Tosca (Opera Roanoke), Outlying Islands (Sugarglass Theatre; Dublin, Ireland), Elijah (world premiere, Bristol Valley Theatre), Sehnsucht (Jack Arts Center), Cobb (Penguin Rep), Moonlight & Magnolias (Mill Mountain Theatre), Julius Caesar (The Acting Company), The Healing (world premiere, TBTB), Enemy of the People (Wheelhouse Theatre Company), Episodes (Indianapolis City Ballet), Mothership (New York City Ballet, Choreographers Institute), and Three Sisters; directed by Mark Wing-Davey (NYU).
While attending NYU Christopher began collaborating with Cherylyn Lavagnino and the Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance Company. His work with the company has been seen around the world including; Beijing International Contemporary Dance Festival, Kaatsbaan International Dance Center, American Dance Guild, and Danspace Project. Christopher’s designs for, Ru, were featured in the September 2014 issue of Dance Teacher Magazine.
As an assistant Christopher has worked with designers including: Jennifer Moeller (Sweat, Broadway), Susan Hilferty, Constance Hoffman, Moria Clinton, James Schuette; and with institutions such as: The Public Theatre, The Santa Fe Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Juilliard School, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
